Not One Nurse in the United States – Not One
“We could not find a nurse to join the Faculty in defense of the federal government’s prohibition of marijuana for medical use, after advertising for months. This is not surprising since nurses are patient advocates and science orientated.”
Al Byrne, co-founder of Patients Out of Time, speaking for the Planning Committee of The Fourth National Clinical Conference on Cannabis Therapeutics may also be quoted as saying, “When it comes to sound bites and myths about cannabis federal spokesmen are everywhere, when invited to defend their comments in a forum of their peers they become invisible.”
While Congress continues to publicly display, as a body, ignorance of the therapeutic applications of cannabis the United States medical community does not.
Led this year by the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine and the California Nurses Association this fourth in a biennial series of cannabis conferences, designed to educate health care professionals and patients about medicinal cannabis, emerges as a public, accredited, scientific rebuttal to the Bush administration’s criminalizing of sick and dying cannabis using, United States citizens.
“If cannabis is not medicine then the entire leadership of the American Nurses Association and its membership are in error and the Congress of the US, almost all lawyers, are correct. Consider the source, then you decide which group has the credibility to pass an opinion on this medical issue”, Mary Lynn Mathre, RN, MSN, CARN, author, addictions specialist and President of Patients Out of Time.
