Berkeley, CA—May 1, 2017– Physicians, research scientists and faculty from across the U.S. and around the globe will present the latest scientific, medical and clinical research findings May 18 – 20th at Patients Out of Time’s The Eleventh National Clinical Conference on Cannabis Therapeutics: “Cannabis: Protecting Patients and Reducing Harm.” The conference is accredited for CMEs and CEUs and will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton Berkeley Marina in Berkeley, CA. Although the initial targeted audience is for healthcare professionals, a vital secondary audience of interest includes patients, legal professionals and those in the general public wishing to educate themselves on up-to-date science, legal strategies, and organizational efforts. Besides critical information, this interdisciplinary event offers robust networking opportunities with colleagues performing cutting edge research and patient applications.

On May 18th, immediately prior to the main conference, continuing education workshops will be offered. The morning medical workshop, Medical Cannabis Primer: the Healthcare Professional’s Handbook (offering CMEs and CEUs) will be followed by the afternoon workshop, Extracts: Demystifying Oils, Tinctures, and Testing. A concurrent full day legal seminar will focus on dynamic Issues in Protecting & Defending Medical Cannabis Rights (offering CLEs).

According to Mary Lynn Mathre, president and co-founder of Patients Out of Time, “With therapeutic applications of cannabis cut out of medical and nursing school curricula since the late 1930s, the need for this education is universal. Patients Out of Time is proud and honored to be the leading provider of such education.”

The main conference will deliver a wide array of topics to healthcare professionals, patients and the public at large– such as “Cognitive Effects on Medical and Recreational Users,” “Cardiovascular and Metabolic Effects of Cannabis,” “Cannabis and Cancer Treatment,” “Exploring Cannabis as a Treatment for PTS(d) in Military Veterans,” “Cannabis as a Harm Reduction Agent for the Opioid Epidemic,” “Cannabis Use for Pain Management in Israel,” “Cannabis Use with Geriatric Patients,” and much more. Complete topic and presenter information is available on the Patients Out of Time website at .

The conference will hold a special Dinner Celebration at Berkeley Marina on Friday, May 19th that includes sumptuous buffets, an entertaining benefit auction, and special tribute honoring icons Dennis Peron and the late Dr Tod Mikuriya. This Friday night celebration provides a great opportunity to meet the faculty and network with the world’s leading scientists and medical researchers, doctors, nurses, attorneys, advocates, and courageous patients. Proceeds for the event go towards supporting Patients Out of Time, a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization that has been at the vanguard of educating healthcare professionals, patients, and the public at large for 22 years.
